Quartz- The structure of quartz is unique and comes from the category of silicate- oxygen tetrahedral, consisting of each oxygen takes the space between two tetrahedral. The common colored varieties of quartz are citrine, rose quartz, amethyst, smoky quartz and milky quartz. Major quartz varieties are onyx, chalcedony, jasper, tiger’s eye, rock crystal, agate, prasiolite, rutilated, aventurine, carnelian, dumortierite. Large quantity of quartz is found across the world in countries like Brazil, France, USA, Switzerland and Pakistan. Mainly it is used in manufacturing of jewelry and hard stone carvings. The mineral is even used in electrical appliances.
